Vigan - Ilocos |
How to get there : You can get a number of bus services running up the North Luzon Highway through Angeles/ Dau and up to San Fernando/ La Union. From there you head further north up the coast. The trip is extremely long though, and we recommend you break it up by stopping over at San Fernando and catching some surf at San Juan. You can also travel on a little further north to Badoc.
Surfing
Vigan is located north of Manila on the National Highway on the western side of the main Philippines island of Luzon.

There is a small, and keen surfing community there who are more than happy to welcome visitors. The breaks located there, as per the rest of the Philippines, produce inconsistent surf. But if you are there on the right day and the swell is working you will be rewarded with not only waves but also un-crowded conditions.
Not only does the town contain surfing opportunities but it also a living relic
of the Spanish occupation of the Philippines. There are many old Spanish
influenced houses and buildings and the town is certainly worth a visit even if
you are not looking for surf. There are numerous quality restaurants and
accommodation facilities to suit most budgets. As it is located close by to the
National Highway transport north and south is very accessible.
