Catanuanes Island

How to get there :  You will need to fly from Legazpi to the air strip at Virac on the Island. From Virac it is a short trike ride to the town where there are a couple of hotels a few restaurants as well as the beaches and waterfalls.

Surfing :

Catanuanes, on average receives around six typhoons per year, varying in intensity of wind and rain to super typhoons with spreads reaching over 200 kilometres per hour. Average rainfall is around 2,800mm per year, the highest in the Philippines. 

There is over 400 kilometres of shoreline dotted with bays and coves along the eastern side of the island. Typhoon "Loleng" devastated the island on October 21, 1998. It was a Signal Number 4 Super Typhoon with winds up to 235 kph. It destroyed 80% of the island and up the locals are still rebuilding up to this day.
