Just back and all I can say, you miss so much without a car. To find a special girl (and they stare you down) you just drive around to you see one you like and smile, 50% of the time you smile back and offer her a ride. I meet a great gal on the way to PP while she was waiting for a Wa-Wa (their local transportation of car sharing) and I took her to school. She called me the next day and spent two days -- tall and slim and a freebie :-), life is good.
This girl I meet afte after the beach last Sat afternoon, she was walking to her freinds house and she just smiled and the rest is history. Won't find her in the bars or disco (where there are mainly dogs now) but having a car and just exploring is what the DR is what it is all about.
I have now a special flat 600 peso rate (about $30.00) rate set up with advenure car at the PP airport (or Cabarete) for a new Corolla (deluxe model) and another Tsmer got upgraded to a Honda SUV (pissed me off).

Hi Bruce:
Sometimes you give a ride to someone job hunting and it turns out to be a really
nice young mother of 2 girls or a young girl on her way back to Rio San Juan. Picking
up hitch hikers here in the DR and in Cuba is safe and a great way to meet women.
Something we never do anymore in the States or Canada.
I ask Jacqualine to meet me at 1pm at the gas station in Monte Llano to go to the
beach in Sosua. She was on time and we spent a day at the beach and a few days here
at my place.
Lourdis was on her way to Rio San Juan when she accepted a ride with a friend on
his way to Samana. For the past 6 days she was his guide from Las Terranis to her
home in San Pedro Macoris where he met her family.
I agree Bruce, it pays to help out with a ride even if nothing else comes of it you
get to practice some spanish and make new friends.
