If you are a first timer traveling alone, and do not speak spanish well I recomend that you put off your Las T portion of your trip this time and concentrate on SD and BC.

You really need to be able to speak Spanish in Las T, I know I was there last month for 2 days. If you are a first timer I recomend getting in touch with Pat (you can find his E-mail on various posts) in BC Staying in BC and takeing his Tour ( I'm sorry I'm not supose to call it a tour- recon) of SD it is well worth your time. I also found that if you only have 10 days in the DR as I did it is better to spend it in one centeral area either Las T or BC/SD.

I am planning to return in the neare future and plan to follow this advise myself based on my trrying to do too much on my first trip. How ever if you want to know about my trip here goes. I had a rental car (be careful with the rental car agencies they will try to rip you if they can )as I came down the mountain int Las T it was not what I expected (having already been to BC the town is not that quaint the narrow main drag was crowded with motor concho's (don't know if this is correctly spelled) and is nothing much to look at as I reached the beach.

I turned Left and easly found my hotel the Dinny (not recomended if you plan to bring guests back) it was an ok place and the people tried to be frendly but no one spoke english and my spanish is not that great (I always felt and observed that my activities where being monitored and did not feel comfortable with this) the food was good and the room.

I eventually ended up in was clean and provided a misquito net for the bed (I still got bit up) but durring the move into this room (the first room I was given was not acceptable) the maid who helped me move came upon my cash of gifts for the ladies and immediately upon her return to the restraunt check in area told her co-workers that I was there for the La Horinas (she did not know that althhough I don't speak spanish well I do understand it) and an attitude cahage suttle but noticable took place wich made me feel uncomfortable.

I almost moved to another hotel (but did not). It sould be noted that there are other places some of which looked much better. It should also be noted that they did not interfear or prevent me from doing any thing just made me feel that my activities where being monitored. The Las T websight information is correct in many respects and incorrect in many others the girls do walk up and down the beach from time to time but not hang out and it is some times difficult to pick out the girls who will from those who are just getting to work etc.

If you don't speak spanish or Itallian or German you will be lost in this town very few people understand English and fewer still speak it. Most of the good looking girls in this area are taken for long term continuing relationships by Itallian males who spend several months at a time here the girls that are walking are only 5 or 6 in looks.

The night hot spot s are the Discos (the Golden Dawn and the one right next door) along the main drag. But don't be fooled if you are looking for a Teen aged young lady you chances are slim of comming away with one they are there with their boyfriends and not interested in short or long term relationships on the fly (they may be interested if you spend time and are looking for some one to spend a month or more with) but don't dispare there are plenty of short time Pros around but be awair they are mercinary (I had a better time In BC even with the Pro types) and prices are not as cheep as claimed in the DR web sight and it is more difficult to negociate here.

Still if you ad the time and spoke the language beetter than I do I think tat based on my observations there are some gems to be found but that is the problem, you have to spend time, if you are only in the DR for a short time, I do not recomend spending it in Las T. Unless a major reason for your being there is the beach it's great. Remember this is just my experiences and observations, hope it helps. Have fun. Enjoy Life!

Re: Las Terrenas

I spent 2 days in Las Terrenas. I stayed at the Castello which is owned by Dutch owners. There son spoke german french italian and english. Rooms are great and permit guest no problema. I was there in June which is slow season. There was only one other room rented out. The rooms do have ac and cost an extra 8 dollars a night. The cabanas are have a loft quit roomy. The first night which was monday there nothing going on accept for us.

We were the party of the town, did not pick any chicas up. Tuesday was different. There was chicas at the the New World disco. An 18 year old chica approached me and we hooked up. This girl worked in a hotel and was off for 30 days because of slow season. I swear that this girl was in love with me. When I had my friend Pete translate what I was saying I asked her how much for the night and she said what every I wanted to pay her. This girl did things to me I have never had done before and that I would not even do.

Apparently she found out we were going to fly to Santo domingo in the morning and wanted to go. Definatly no! I gave her 200 peso's so I would not feel bad in the morning and cruised. You can rent 125 motorcycles which we did and had a great time. I definatly reccommend this. I think Las Terrenas would be better in high season.

I went to Las Terrenas in August, and had no trouble finding a hotel without reservations.

But I stayed at Hotel Diny - a budget hotel but still clean and comfortable. I don't know if you'd need reservations for a fancier place.
Remember, though, if you want female company during your stay (and I imagine you will...) , stay away from the more upscale hotels. They don't allow guests.

As for going alone, don't worry -- you won't be alone for long. Girls are easy to find, and if not, they'll find you.

Brush up on your Spanish. It makes a good impression.

Each girl is different. Generally, though, the girls in LT are not too demanding. Of course, they want your money but they're also looking for affection, kindness, and the possibility of a long-term commitment that would allow them to live with a good man abroad.

As the LT web site points out, they're by and large unspoiled amateurs; not hardened pros. However, there may be non-local girls (from S.Domingo) who may be only interested in your wallet. As in anything else, use good judgment and you'll have a good time with friendly, sincere, and above all, SEXY girls.
