1). Adriana Casa (three rooms, all a/c)

This is a deluxe casa in the Vista
Alegre area with two rooms inside the main house and a very private unit
in the basement (with a private entrance). The home is beautiful and an old mansion
in the best area of Santiago. Includes patios, terrace, and large
garden area with family
room for TV. Immaculate in every way and
about 15 minute walk to the Hotel Santiago area. Having a motorbike or car might
be recommended if your not a walker.

2). Ieana Casa (two rooms, all a/c)

Nice second floor apartment in the old city. A few
blocks away from Park Cepedes and run by a mother and daughter. Some members have
stayed there and really enjoyed
it. Great views from the balcony,
and on a busy side street (but, that can be good :-)). If you like being in the middle
of the action, a good choice. Very helpful and friendly ladies.

3). Casa Verde (two rooms, all a/c)

This is were I stayed and loved it. A few blocks
from Plaza Dolores and on a not so busy side street. Your host speaks fluent English
and has Email (retired from the University). His wife and sister mother you to death
(I had tell them don’t touch anything unless I gave permission) and even though a
entire family is here the women are usually in the back and he is in his computer
room. Lots of privacy if needed. Large entertaining area and great food with a nice
patio. Only complaint was one bathroom (must share) and no key for front door (they
wake up and let you in). But, no problem with entertaining friends and truly enjoyed
my daily conservations with Izquierdo and family. A hi-lite to my trip to
Santiago. Take the complete
tour of Casa Verde here.

4). Casa
Josefina (three rooms, all a/c)

Nice modern home in the Vista
Alegre area. About 10 minute walk to the Hotel Santiago area and sits acrosss from
the Russian Embassy. Two rooms inside the home are upstairs (and only
you upstairs and private bathrooms) and very deluxe
with lots of privacy. Behind the house is another room and
contains a small kitchen plus the rear main gate can be unlocked for a real private
entrance if your staying in this outside unit (inside rooms are nicer though). Nice
lawn area and on a large lot in the best neighborhood
in Santiago. Large
living room, but family is there a lot --
but great people. Can’t
go wrong here.

5). Casa Jose (one room, fan only)

This is the perfect place for an afternoon delight.
The casa is on the third floor of an apartment building a few blocks from Plaza Dolores.
The owner is a single guy, so place isn’t as immaculate and perfect as the others.
The casa has a great third level sitting porch for viewing the old
town and sunset (my girlfriend, having a drink) and a great place to unwind. The room is sparse but comfy
and while there is no a/c, a nice breeze and fan. Jose speaks English and can help
with all your needs. Maybe not the most luxurious (but does have its own private
bathroom), but the price is right :-).

6). Casa Ricardo (two rooms, a/c)

A few blocks to the right of Park Ferreiro (where
all the girls wait for the bus and get off :-)), this casa is special
because of its privacy. A separate entrance (and also separate from the main house)
leads up some
stairs to two casas on the second level.
Yes, you have separate keys and the casa facing the street (can
be a little traffic nois) has a small dining area and even
a kitchen. The second
casa sits farther back (and very quite)
and while both are adequate they are not super deluxe. There is also a nice upstairs
patio to set back and relax and if you want total privacy in a fun neighborhood (lots
of activity walking up and down the streets) this could be for you. But, you’d need
a taxi to get to the central parks or the old city or a long walk -- again as in
Vista Alegre area, a rental car or motor bike is recommended if you stay here (but,
if you enjoy walking, no probelema).

7). Casa Rosada (two rooms, a/c)

A special treat. You can rent
both rooms and have an entire apartment (with live in maid, if desired)
for yourself. Two blocks from Plaza Marti an the owner doesn’t live here and the
maid runs the casa. Comfy living room, shared bathroom, complete kitchen,
patio, dining area and a near roof top
deck makes this place complete. Immaculate in every form, this is perfect for a couple
of people traveling together with privacy and the possibility of your own apartment
if you rent both rooms. Yes, maid is included in the price and in good location too.
