Iím a travel writer and a few years ago I fell in love with Cartagena (see short history here). Although I live in California and travel the world extensively I seem always to be pulled back to this magical city. For me it had everything I loved (beach, history, sites, long walks, sports, good restaurants, people watching, friends and quiet times if needed).

Although my friends thought I was crazy to buy, I wanted to create a special place for me I could call home, so after much research I bought an apartment (with the help of some special friends) and decided to make it as close to perfect as I possibly could. After four month of extensive renovation, here is my apartment that I offer to rent when Iím not there.

Cartagena is basically two cities in one. The old city with itís New Orleans style charm and the modern and active beach area called Bocagrande ($1.50 cab ride separates these two areas). The best and most active apartment area is called ìLaguitoî and this is where my apartment is.

The apartment is unique with an Art Deco style (sorta from Batman era) and is three buiding from the prestigious Hilton (with full gym and tennis available for outsiders for nominal fee) and a short walk to the main beach of Bocagrande. This walk contains many outside restaurants, shops, stores, and great for people watching. The building is called "Toree Centauro" and it is one of the few apartment buildings with itís own private beach (great for a early morning swim or use the rooftop pool) and a two minute walk to the expansive and deluxe Hilton beach. Yes, this is the perfect location.

Facilities:

The apartment is a split level (two bedrooms and full bathroom downstairs) unit on the 8th floor of Torre Centauro and ocean front in the Laquito area of Cartagena. The apartment contains three full bedrooms (third bedroom only rented to know guests since it is my personal bedroom), three bathrooms and a full work office (below). It has been renovatd to American standards and everything is brand new and in perfect condition. The amenities included are:

Three separate A/C for each bedroom plus new splitter A/C for the living room, four color televisions (with CNN, CNNSI, ESPN and English movie channel) with large Sony in the living room, washing machine (and large capacity dryer) with laundry room, three bathrooms with full showers, full hot water (a rarity in apartments in Cartagena), ocean front with balcony and hammock, full kitchen (and all utensils) with microwave, stereo with CD and tape player, electronic bottle water dispenser (hot & cold), full 24 hour security (with close circuit T.V to view arriving guests) with front desk personal to ring guests in and the most wonderful sunsets in Cartagena.

Note: smoking is only allowed on the balcony and small children not allowed
