Karaoke and Private Clubs in Bangkok

If you've spent any time at all wandering around in Bangkok then I'm sure that you have noticed all the establishments with pictures of nicely dressed Thai girls (hostesses) plastered all over the outside of the building.

These bars are Karaoke Clubs. Karaoke is extremely popular in Thailand, as you will notice once you know what to look for. In fact these clubs are ALL over and it sometimes seems that you see 2 or 3 of them per block in many areas. This popular activity is not limited to Bangkok - Karaoke Clubs can be seen all over the country and even in many of the smaller towns.

While many Karaoke Clubs are in fact just what a Karaoke Club in the US is (a place to sing along with the music into your very own private microphone), the ones that have the pictures of all the pretty girls on the outside offer much more (i.e. it seems that the girls will sing into YOUR microphone for some additional dollars).

For me, I have always just wondered about these places. I have NOT actually been in any of them. I have just heard the stories regarding the services available. Also, I beleive that most of these are mainly patronized by Thai men and it is unlikely that if you do venture in that you will see many familiar faces (fellow tourists). There is even a second class of these clubs that appears to cater to the Japanese crowd (to whom Karaoke Clubs are also extremely popular for some reason). I beleive that this fascination with Karaoke and the Karaoke Girls is pretty much an excuse for the asian gentelmen to pick up a woman for sex (no idea why the ruse is neccessary).

There is one site on the web that appears to be one of the "high-priced" Japanese versions of Karaoke Club -- which is located (oddly enough) very close to NANA Plaza. Check out the Mayfair Exclusive Club for a few pictures of their "lovely hostesses."

PRIVATE SEX CLUBS

Unfortunately, I have little direct information to pass long regarding the private sex club scene in Bangkok. Except to note that is IS there and very real. These places tend to be another home to the "Japanese" style of club. Although the information we have on at least this particular club shows all (who have the money) are welcome.

My experience/research has turned up the name of only one such place in Bangkok. It is called the Pegasus Club.

The manager's nickname is Charlie (Songsak Tippawong) and he would be happy to show you around. An expensive place, but you definitely get your money's worth. There can't be more beautiful women in all of Thailand than what you find at the Pegasus.

I went to the Pegasus earlier this year with a friend who had a membership ($1,000 for a lifetime membership?) Anyhow it was quite the place... 5 stars all the way. Decked out in ancient Greek architecture with a variety of private rooms for rent. You buy your own bottles of liquor with membership. The girls are absolutely stunning... every single one of them... must have been about 60-70. I think they were 2,000 baht an hour. Get there early before the Japanese sweep them all up. Good place for high rollers, not for a cheap date.

We have also heard that non-members can pay a nightly fee at this club. It is a pretty steep fee (like $200-$300 US dollars). Can anyone confirm this as fact?
